Spring Cheers and Beers

CURATED ARTICLE VIA BRIGHT BREWERY: The four glorious seasons of beautiful Bright continue to roll on, as we surge through a fantastic 2015. Spring is here, in full bloom, which is always an ideal time to enjoy beers and bites at Bright Brewery. Fresh batches of hoppy favourites – Blowhard Pale Ale and M.I.A I.P.A – are now available on tap and in bottle (which you can buy from our online store), and we also have a new limited release brew that’s prefect for Springtime: Brewer Tobi drinking Oktobifest

Oktobifest is our seasonal nod to the traditional beer festival held in Munich, Germany. Each year we brew an Oktoberfest style beer, each year it’s a different beer with a difference recipe, reflecting our brewers’ desire to craft new versions of traditional beers.

This year’s edition is an Oktoberfest style Vienna Lager, and it’s the first brew at Bright Brewery of Tobi Dankert, who hails from Germany, the spiritual home of bee, hence the name Oktobifest. Tobi recently moved to beautiful Bright to join our brewing team. Together, Tobi and head brewer Ryan crafted a modern Oktoberfest beer with alpine spirit. Red in colour and brewed with a classic German lager yeast from the famous Weihenstephan brewery, this is a full flavoured festive beer. German Hallertau hops and the snow-fed water of the Ovens River make this beer ideal for Spring. We’ve also recently brewed a collaboration beer with our friends from Red Hill Brewery on the Mornington Peninsula. A joint love for Victoria’s snow mountains brought us together to craft a special beer that will help Red Hill Brewery celebrate their 10 years of brewing in the form of The Red Project. Expect something…bright and red! The spirit of collaboration continued the following week as we joined our fellow High Country brewers from Bridge Road Brewers and Sweetwater Brewing Company at Black Dog Brewery to make this year’s edition of ‘Rule 47′, the Victorian High Country Brewery Trail beer. The 2015 edition of Rule 47 is continuing the Belgian theme of the previous two editions from 2013 and 2014 and continues the emphasis on hops grown in our local region of the High Country. Both those collaboration beers will be on tap at Bright Brewery next month. We were delighted to once again support the Alfred 6 Hour Charity MTB Race, raising funds for trauma and emergency care at The Alfred Hospital. This annual event is always a fantastic gathering of the local community and passionate mountain bike riders, racing in support of a very worth cause. 692 Laps were ridden, totaling 4844km ridden in support of The Alfred Hospital! We were waiting at the Finish Line to reward riders’ efforts with a beer and then hosted the presentations and charity auction on the Hop Terrace at Bright Brewery. A mountain bike rider on the trails of the Alfred 6 Hour race Next, we are heading to the Royal Melbourne Show to pour our beers at the Winning Tastes Pavilion Brew Bar & BBQ from Sunday 27th to Tuesday 29th September. Pouring beers and Gears & Beers Then we’re heading back to Wagga for the excellent Gears & Beers cycling festival on Sunday 4th October from 11:00am. We hope to see you at the Victory Memorial Gardens as we pour MountainCrafted beers for the fine people of Wagga. And don’t forget that there’s live music every weekend at Bright Brewery, with Sunday Sessions on the Hop Terrace featuring the finest local and touring artists. Kick back with a fresh beer and enjoy a different live band every Sunday between 2pm to 5pm (3pm to 6pm during Daylight Savings hours). Cheers! A beer and live music on the Hop Terrace
